一昨年の年末年始にオーストラリアに行ったのですが、朝食を取ろうと入ったカフェでパンケーキをオーダーすると、たっぷりのベリーと焼きバナナのトッピングにメイプルシロップがかかった甘いパンケーキに、

これでもかという量の分厚いベーコン

が挟まっていて、「何かの間違いかな？」と首をかしげながらもいただいたことがあります。



しかし、念のためメニューの説明を良く見ると「banana belly,bacon」と書いてあったので、何かの間違いではないことがわかりました。（一緒に食べてみたら、これはこれで結構おいしかったです）

さらには他のいくつかのカフェでも、甘いトッピングのパンケーキにベーコンが入っているメニューがあったので、そういう食べ方もあるんだと、改めて理解しました。

さて、この事例に遭遇して以来、甘いメニューにおけるベーコンの扱いがまるでホイップクリームかチョコレートソースかフルーツかのごとく、ごく自然に調和している（？）ことに違和感を覚えつつもTwitterで画像検索してみたところ、思わぬビジュアルのベーコンスイーツが多数ヒットしたので、紹介したいと思います。
